LOA Associates are delighted to present this outstanding opportunity for a Specialty Doctor / Middle Grade in Emergency Medicine (must have Irish or UK NHS experience. Will also consider candidate wishing to be employed as Registrar (ST4+ level) .
LOA Associates are advertising tailored CESR rotations based at our prestigious NHS Foundation Trust. The post is intended to provide the successful applicant with all the support and training needed to successfully complete the CESR route towards specialist registration and will offer secondments in each of Acute Medicine, Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Acute Paediatrics.
The post will offer candidates a unique opportunity to train in a busy and supportive environment. The ED has an enthusiastic and dedicated consultant team with a wide range of backgrounds and specialist interests. The department has a good track record for non-career middle grades moving on into training posts. The posts are supported by educational teaching, learning and assessment opportunities equivalent to those on national vocational programmes. The successful applicant will be assigned a consultant mentor for the duration of the post.
Our Hospital is a Trauma Unit within the North West Major Trauma network. The Trust is proactively investing in expansion of our staffing.
The ED itself is entering an exciting period of significant clinical staffing expansion at all grades.
The Trust runs ALS, ATLS, and APLS courses on a regular basis. There are 4 monthly reviews of training needs and completion of personal development plans.
The department allocates time for extra activity sessions such as at a major Trauma Centre, with the NW ambulance service to enhance pre-hospital skills.
These middle grade posts will join a dedicated team with an established track record for implementing change to improve patient care e.g. emergency medicine ultrasound and stroke thrombolysis, using telemedicine links.
Our Emergency Department is one of the major accident units for NW region and currently handles around 80,000 cases per annum. The Department deals with the full range of surgical, medical and paediatric emergencies and has full back-up (Radiology, Pathology and Anaesthetics), together with the normal range of in-patient specialties found within an acute hospital. There is excellent and timely access to CT and interventional radiology on a 24 hour basis, with PACS links to regional centers to facilitate image transfer and prompt onward referral, as needed. There is access to Consultant advice 24/7, with Consultant presence in the Department until midnight, and a guaranteed 30 minute response time for major trauma patients.
