LOA Associates are delighted to present  exciting and lucrative opportunities for Consultant Ophthalmologists with GMC Specialist registration.

We collaborate with  local NHS partners to offer NHS patients high-quality, rapid access to planned treatments across a range of specialties at their five treatment centres in the South West. All full time roles are 48 hours per week (40 scheduled, 8 unscheduled).A commitment to provide out of hours on call cover on a rota basis is required. This is to be determined with surgical colleagues and prospective cover for the absences of colleagues, although first line cover will be provided by the RMO and little senior call is anticipated.  Opportunities may arise for further clinical work in addition to the basic contract.
You are  required to perform a range of ophthalmology procedures, on patients referred to the treatment centre, working in accordance with treatment centre protocols and working practices.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate a high level of skill in the operative and non-operative aspects of the management and assessment of the following areas:
Slit-Lamp examination
Gonioscopy
Fundoscopy
Tonometry
Refraction
Focimeter
YAG Laser Capsulotomy and Iridotomy
Biometry, including Immersion Ultrasound
Syringing of the Nasolacrimal Duct
Insertion of Punctal plugs
Corneal and Eyelid suture removal
Use of Bandage Contact Lens

Our successful surgeons will be required to demonstrate a high level of operative skill in the following areas:
High Volume Phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia (Essential)
Eyelid surgery
Laser treatment
We are exploring the possibility of commencing Medical Retina /Glaucoma services.
The surgeon will participate in the outpatients prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the post-operative care of the patients. It is anticipated that the surgeon will spend all her time in a combination of outpatient assessment; administrative, management and clinical governance duties. S/he will work closely with clinical colleagues, both specialists and RMO’s, in order to enhance the level of patient care at the centre.
The final allocation of patient contact time will be agreed in discussion with the registered manager of the Hospital.
In addition to the clinical duties he or she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and with the running of the Department. Each consultant will be responsible for producing the appropriate clinical records for each patient.
